From the CEO

authorWelcome to our final Avinet newsletter for 2015.

It has been a busy few months and not just for the Avinet team but for the entire aviation industry. Featured below are some of the prevalent topics that are worth a mention:

Avinet farewell and welcome
We sadly say goodbye to Customer Support Analyst Aleks Krstic who was with us for 8 months. We wish him all the best in the next stage of his career. Dan Le has recently joined the team to replace Aleks and has already shown great enthusiasm working with customers and our Air Maestro software. You can find out more about Dan below.

HAC Canada
Bianca and I travelled to Vancouver for the 2015 HAC Convention. The show was one of the busiest I have ever attended before and was certainly a great opportunity to meet our customers as well as some new faces in the industry.

CAO 48.1 Changes
Recently, the industry has lobbied CASA to postpone or scrap CAO 48.1 and in particular CASR 61. Watch this space as the debate continues and a likely compromise emerges.

As the year draws to a close, I would like to wish everyone a fantastic and festive break and I look forward to what the year 2016 brings. I hope that you find value in the information provided in this newsletter and should you like further information on Air Maestro please do not hesitate to contact us.

Regards,

Mike Mulvihill | CEO

Global Training & Travel

Zurich, Switzerland
Late October, Aleks travelled to Zurich in Switzerland for customer training and implementation for Zimex Aviation. The team were very accommodating and enthusiastic and the week of training was a real success.

Aleks was fortunate enough to have a free Saturday in Zurich and had the opportunity to hop on an hour train ride to visit Lucerne, a colourful city in central Switzerland.

From Lucerne, she travelled to Alpnachstad to take the scenic Cogwheel train to Mount Pilatus. The Pilatus railway is the world's steepest Cogwheel train and takes approximately 30 minutes to reach the summit. From the summit you can view the sites of Lucerne, surrounded by the Alps. However, during her visit, the town was immersed in clouds but the views were spectacular nonetheless.

Development

Just in time for the festive season, Air Maestro version 2-13 is almost here. We have rolled out the updated version to almost all of our 200+ clients. Listed below are some of the key updates that will be available:

Rostering – The ability to work upon an unpublished version of the roster prior to rolling it out to the staff. The roster notifications have also been updated to optionally include a PDF copy of the roster at the time.

Timezone support – All rostered and scheduled shifts and duties can now have start and end timezones associated with them using a new and improved timezone picker.

Recency – Items that are expiring in the upcoming months can now be scheduled for a particular date with a trainer and a location. There have also been quite a few improvements to the check forms including the ability to set them as self-updatable so that staff can fill them out themselves without an examiner.

Safety Dashboards – A new interactive dashboard is available to safety managers to be able to visually display reports over time and filter by factors such as risk, base and aircraft.
